China and Sri Lanka
"Yesterday we were with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa had a fruitful meeting, during which reached a consensus on a wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations and plan further development of relations between China and Sri Lanka.
Both sides need to make serious efforts to implement the agreements reached to accelerate the negotiations on free trade, steadily promote cooperation on large projects such as the construction of the port of Hambantota, cooperation in the fields of tourism, marine scientific research, marine economy, the construction of other ports and maritime security. Parties need to make joint efforts to promote the construction of the "Maritime Silk Road", to deepen cooperation in the field of tourism and promote exchanges of staff. China and Sri Lanka need to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
In this regard, the Chinese side welcomes the participation of Sri Lanka in the creation of the Asian Bank of infrastructure investments. In turn, the DM Dzhayaratne said: "I visited China several times, had to deal with the older generation of Chinese leaders, and treat China with deep emotions. The people of Sri Lanka thanked the Chinese side for its support and assistance. We are ready to learn from China, to participate actively in the construction of "maritime Silk Road", to apply force to the joint development. "
